Catherine Rushing Achord
Sadly, we mourn the passing of Catherine Rushing Achord. She passed on to meet her Lord in her home surrounded by family on Sunday, June 11, 2017. Catherine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister & friend. Catherine was born June 28, 1943. Catherine is remembered by many for her accomplishments. Her friends from high school remember her as carrying the title of Miss Walker High School, as an outstanding All-State basketball player, and she carried the record for most Career points scored in the history of Walker high school from 1960 until 2000 at which time she passed her title onto her granddaughter, Shanna Achord. Catherine served as foster parents along with her husband Norris, and her travels including visiting and serving time in the Christian mission field. Catherine was a successful realtor for many years for Sullivan Realtor. She and her husband, Norris Achord, owned Top Bid Auction for many years. Catherine is preceded in death by her parents, Arnold E. Rushing and Annie Lee Sibley Rushing Alonzo, In-laws Bob Achord wife Beatrice Achord and her infant Grandson Baby John Neucere. Catherine is survived by her husband of 57 years, Norris E. Achord, her sons, Tony Achord and wife Melanie and John Russell Achord, her daughter Kristi Achord-Neucere and husband Charles Neucere, sisters Margie Holland and husband Lane Holland, Carolyn Felder husband Randy Felder, Terry Achord wife Diane Achord, Bert Achord wife Gwen Achord. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren Shanna Achord Boutte and husband Will Boutte, Taryn Achord Roux and husband David Roux, Gabrielle Achord, LeAnna Achord, Kaitlon Jarreau, and Samantha Neucere. She also had six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at South Walker Baptist Church Wednesday, June 14th Located at 13719 Hammack Rd. Denham Springs. Visitation will begin at 10:00am and a service to celebrate her life will begin at Noon.
